Tyler joined the REC Room in the fall of 2019 and has enjoyed bringing vital information to the youth of Homer since then by coordinating educational opportunities with schools and local organizations with the help of the Peer Ed Team. His own continuing education has included several trainings through the National Center for Sex Education, various violence prevention trainings, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and other AASECT-certified (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, & Therapists) professional development trainings. Tyler was born in Yakima, Washington, got his BA from the University of Washington, and has spent time living in Seattle, Brooklyn, and now Homer, where they hope to continue to live for a long time and create more resiliency and connection within the community. In their free time, Tyler co-hosts a weekly radio show with Sierra Moskios (REC Room Coordinator), paints, gardens, loves to travel when possible, and runs his coffee business at the Farmer’s Market during the summer.
