Sonja Martin Young

Sonja grew up in Alaska and left the state to obtain a Bachelor’s in Psychology in Colorado, followed by a Nursing Doctorate at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Sonja went on to earn a Certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Sonja specializes in midwifery and women’s health, with a special love of contraception. She started practicing at Homer Medical and Kachemak Bay Family Planning in 2002. She has been helping women bring their babies into the world, providing women’s health and reproductive services since then. She took a break from KBFPC for 7 years and is so happy to be back as a clinician! Sonja is married to Tom and they have a variety of animals. Her hobbies include riding and caring for their horses (including two previously wild mustangs), hiking and playing with their dogs, and growing amazing greens in their year-round aquaponic greenhouse.
