Friends,
Today, November 11th, marks the one-year anniversary of two gun violence incidents at KBFPC. Thank you for the support – kind words, hugs, donations – you shared with our staff and volunteers in the weeks following the shootings. Each of us needed the community offerings to regroup and recharge, not yet knowing what 2025 would bring. The upheaval was far reaching, but we are finding our groove again, celebrating successes, caring for lots of Alaskans, and honestly, bracing for what hurdle comes next. 2025 has been complicated.
One thing is clear though. For more than 40 years, KBFPC has provided essential preventative reproductive healthcare to our community. There is no nefarious, ulterior motive to the low- and no-cost healthcare and medically accurate information we provide in Homer and, since 2023, other communities on the Kenai Peninsula. Every day clients receive expert care from empathetic, licensed clinicians so each individual and family can make life-affirming decisions about their bodies, regardless of their ability to pay.
Importantly, KBFPC is a safety-net provider. For many of our clients, two thirds of whom have no other medical home, we are an entry point into the regional healthcare system. Alaskans come to us for reliable family planning support and get linked to other care they might need – such as treatment for hypertension, diabetes, or STIs – at KBFPC and from other providers. Untreated, these conditions can have long term impacts on a person’s ability to become pregnant, can cause irreparable harm to their bodies, and even cause others to get sick. Caring for each individual impacts the wellness of our whole community.

We invite you to join KBFPC Teen Health for Birds, Bees, & Beyond, an engaging and informative event designed to support parents/caregivers and connect them with others in their community.
Our next meet up is on Monday, November 17 at the Kachemak Bay Campus from 5:30 – 6:30pm
We meet monthly on the third Monday of each month.
Healthy Relationships Workshop
An opportunity for teens to gain foundational, age-appropriate healthy relationships knowledge outside of the school week!
This FREE one-day workshop is convenient for families with busy after-school activities, who still want access to this unique health education opportunity for your teen. Sessions will use the district-approved curriculum. Participants will receive a gift card to a local business.
Lunch and snacks provided.
