We are very excited to share that KBFPC has been selected as a recipient of a two-year Innovation Award in Community Health. This funding supports the next stage of our efforts to significantly expand access to life-saving cancer prevention for Alaskans. The grant will support two critical infectious disease prevention initiatives designed to bridge the healthcare gap on the Kenai Peninsula:
- HPV Cancer Prevention: The launch of a vaccination program to protect adults against cervical cancer and five other types of cancer caused by the widely prevalent human papillomavirus (HPV).
Mobile Outreach: Strengthening KBFPC’s Pop-Up Clinic program, bringing sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, treatment, and other reproductive healthcare directly to underserved residents across the Peninsula. - Our agency is one of 16 organizations nationwide—and one of only two in Alaska, alongside Norton Sound Health Corporation—to receive this 2026 Innovations in Community Health Award. The initiative is sponsored by The Pfizer Foundation and coordinated by the emergency-response nonprofit Direct Relief. It aims to bolster the capacity of safety-net providers serving communities facing the steepest barriers to care across 11 priority states.

We need your help raising $25,000 to keep care accessible. Your gift of any size – from $25 to $500 – will help us reach that goal. PLUS – A generous community member will donate $5,000 if 10 new monthly donors join KBFPC’s Love Loop before June 1.
Spring Drive Celebration
On May 30, the first 50 people to donate $500 or more to our Spring Fundraising Drive will celebrate at Sip & Shuck 2026, an unforgettable event sponsored by Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge and other local vendors. The afternoon includes transportation, food, drink, music, and relaxation!
Help us announce that we’ve raised $25,000 and met our recurring match goal for this Spring live at the event!
Parent Corner
Summer reading is always a fun challenge. Try adding some books from Common Sense Media’s Book list to help young people understand the importance of consent. Because prevention education isn’t just for the school year! Common Sense Media is a nonprofit that puts kids’ safety and well-being first in the digital era. Check out their website for recommendation lists of all things’ media!
Annual Breast Cancer Run
Join us on Saturday, May 30 at 9:30am for an untimed Fun Run event supporting breast cancer screening, treatment, and research in Alaska.
KBFPC is proud to sponsor a virtual team in Homer for the annual Alaska Run For Women, which raises funds for and awareness of breast cancer and women’s health.
