A lone sandhill crane is now standing sentry at KBFPC most mornings. A cow moose and her new calf make visits in the afternoons. Along with these regulars, the neighborhood around KBFPC is bustling with humans also, like most of Alaska these days. We’re all busy getting things done.
It was fun to see so many walkers and runners on the Homer Spit last weekend who got an early start honoring breast cancer survivors and raising funds for breast cancer awareness ahead of the big event in Anchorage this weekend. KBFPC will be there on Saturday, so please stop and say hello!
June is a special month on the KBFPC calendar. Our outreach team of staff and volunteers will be out and about at many more community events connecting our neighbors and visitors alike with up-to-date reproductive health information and how to support your health, even during these busy months.
KBFPC is joining the festivities in Homer and Soldotna to celebrate Pride Month, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I hope you will join too! At this critical time, we want our friends, families, and neighbors to know that our inclusive, client-centered care means everyone is welcome at KBFPC.

Did you know? In 2024 33% of KBFPC clients received care thanks to Alaska’s Medicaid program. Along with all major insurance plans, KBFPC now also accepts Medicare making reproductive healthcare more accessible to clients under 64 with disabilities.
Alaska Run for Women
Anchorage Folks! Pop by the grantee tent at the Alaska Run for Women this Saturday, June 7th from 7:30am until 12:30pm. We’ll be there connecting with race participants, sharing information on services, and handing out a sweet treat.
Each year this event raises funds for and awareness of breast cancer and women’s health (including support for KBFPC’s outreach program). We are proud to play a part in the fun!
Homer Pride & Juneteenth
Homer Pride is has a full line up of activities all month long. Join KBFPC at the Liberation Celebration on Saturday, June 14th from 12 – 3pm at the Kachemak Bay Campus. You can make a button to express yourself and learn about accessing quality and inclusive healthcare. P.S. there will be glitter!

Anchorage Friends: You’re Invited!
On June 16th, 5-7pm, join us in downtown Anchorage for an evening of connection and community action — all in support of Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic (KBFPC).
The lively conversation will feature Susan Orlansky, volunteer attorney with ACLU – Alaska and Robin Holmes, MD, physician and Medical Director with Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic.
Enjoy light bites, drinks, and heartfelt stories about how KBFPC is protecting access to reproductive and sexual healthcare in Alaska—and how you can help.

Kenai Peninsula Foodbank Spring Festival
Join KBFPC at the Kenai Peninsula Foodbank’s annual community BBQ on Friday, June 20th from 11am – 3pm at the 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna.

Soldotna Pride in the Park
Come say hello to the KBFPC Outreach Team at Soldotna Pride on June 21. The event is sure to be full of fabulous costumes, vibrant crafts, delicious food. Make a button or two with us and learn about reproductive health care on the central peninsula.
