Happy New Year! As we jump into 2026, we are thinking about access to care. Who needs care, who isn’t getting it and why? Granted, we’ve always focused on expanding access – our sliding fee scale program and accommodating billing policies have allowed hundreds of Alaskans to prioritize their health. In 2026 we are looking forward to further expanding our remote services – ensuring all Alaskans have access to affordable and medically accurate reproductive healthcare.

In case you haven’t heard, we launched our remote services program in the summer of 2022 to care for Central Peninsula patrons and others who can’t make it to the Homer clinic. Along with expanded telehealth services and Pop-Up Clinics around the Kenai Peninsula, we have an ongoing partnership with Kenai Public Health offering our low-cost reproductive healthcare services in Kenai twice a month. Our dedicated clinical team travels up the road to provide testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), breast and cervical health checks, and birth control information and supplies.

In 2025 we piloted an addition to our remote services program – we began partnering with Ninilchik Community Clinic (NTC). Their Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Mobile Clinic travels up and down the Southern Kenai Peninsula providing MAT services in communities like Anchor Point, Kasilof, and Nikiski, and for six months a member of our clinical team traveled along to provide reproductive healthcare to those who wanted it. By providing care when and where people are – we’re breaking down barriers and caring for individuals. The pilot was very successful and we are excited to share that we are continuing this partnership in 2026!

In Memory of Tarri Thurman

Tarri Thurman, longtime Board Member and supporter of KBFPC, passed away on December 12, 2025. Tarri served on the Board from 1996 to 2009, including as Vice President, during a time of agency expansion. Most notably during Tarri’s tenure, KBFPC purchased and remodeled the two buildings on KBFPC’s current campus in the Ben Walters neighborhood: our Flagship Clinic and the Administrative & Education building next door. Tarri’s involvement with many fundraising events helped support long term access to reproductive healthcare and education will be missed, including multiple AIDS Awareness Balls, Iron Chef competitions at The Saltry in Halibut Cove, pull tabs at the Down East, and most recently the 2022 Sip and Shuck event held at Moose Run Metalsmiths shop where Tarri and Marlon created masterful works of art. Marlon also passed on December 13th.

Healthy Relationships Workshops

An opportunity for teens to gain foundational, age-appropriate healthy relationships knowledge outside of the school week!

This FREE one-day workshop is convenient for families with busy after-school activities, who still want access to this unique health education opportunity for your teen. Sessions will use the district-approved curriculum. Participants will receive a gift card and a goodie bag!
