FROM KBFPC’S August 2023 COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER
Friends,
Just about a month ago, the sun was shining and many of you helped celebrate our 40th anniversary at the Roots & Shoots fundraising event at Bear Creek Winery. Thank you to each of you who attended, to those who donated to the auction and the highest bidders, and to the volunteers who helped make the event successful. All of us at KBFPC continue to work hard to honor the hard work of those who came before us – the agency’s founders, former board members, staff, and supporters – by contributing to community wellness through the reproductive health care of each individual and sexual health education.
Since a few days before the Roots & Shoots event, we have been dealing with a flood in the Nielsen Circle building (see below) that has left the downstairs unusable and expensive repairs, not covered by our property insurance, forthcoming. This is devastating, especially combined with the loss of major funding for the REC Room and the rising cost of liability and property insurance for organizations nationwide like KBFPC that are involved in social justice work. The ongoing support of individual donors like you to our general operating funds helps us provide direct low and no-cost essential care – a vast menu of contraception, life-saving breast and cervical cancer screening, STI testing, gender affirming care, vasectomies – but also offsets the important behind-the-scenes costs that ensure we can operate. Thank you for your support.
With gratitude,
Claudia Haines, CEO
